An online event will be held with the Ericsson Research Turkey representatives on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at 18:00 in collaboration with the Hacettepe University’s Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering and the IEEE Hacettepe Student Branch.

On the event themed "Towards 6G", Dr. Henrik Almeida, Dr. Yunus Dönmez, Dr. Emrah Tomur and Dr. Ömer Haliloğlu from Ericsson Research Turkey will share their their professional experiences on the field. Biographies of the Participants:

Dr. h.c. Henrik Almeida, Head of Ericsson Research Turkey
Dr. h.c. Henrik Almeida joined Ericsson in 1990 and Ericsson Research in 1998, where he has held different research management positions over the past 22 years. In late 70-ties and early 80-ties, he studied mathematics and physics, at the Royal Institute of Technology and the University of Stockholm.

In 2010 he received his technical honorary doctorate from Lund University, for research achievements in broadband access technologies, performed in collaboration with academia.
Initially driving the evolution of fixed broadband access, including VDSL2, GPON, and the foundation for G.fast. Later into wireless systems and new indoor radio solutions, including new fronthaul interfaces and compression technologies, required for the 5G architecture. Presently, on a long-term assignment in Turkey, establishing an Ericsson Research site, focusing on the long-term evolution of wireless Networks and Security.

Dr. Emrah Tomur, Master Researcher, Ericsson Research Turkey
Dr. Emrah Tomur has been working as a Master Researcher at Ericsson since January 2019 where he is leading the research team in the area of security. He received his Ph.D in Information Systems from Middle East Technical University in 2008 and his M.Sc. and B.S degrees both in Electronics Engineering from Bilkent University in 2001 and in 1999 respectively. Before joining Ericsson, he worked as R&D Manager in private sector companies, Technology Transfer Manager in universities where he gave courses and served as graduate thesis advisor. He has several scientific research papers published in journals and conference proceedings in the area of security. He also worked in numerous various national and international R&D projects funded by EU or national agencies. His technical expertise is on security of Internet of Things, M2M & Wireless Sensor Networks.

Dr. Yunus Dönmez, Master Researcher, Ericsson Research Turkey
Dr. Mehmet Yunus Dönmez has been working as a Master Researcher at Ericsson since December 2018, where he is leading the research team in the Research Area Networks and driving research efforts on network management and automation for industries. He received his B.S. degree in Mathematics in 1999, and the M.Sc. and Ph.D. ,,,,, degrees both in Computer Engineering in 2003 and 2011 respectively from Bogazici University, Istanbul, Turkey. Previously, he worked as Innovation and R&D Projects Specialist on 5G network architecture and management topics. He has been involved in many international and national research projects, proposals and consortia. His research interests include QoS-aware cross-layer algorithms/protocols, 5G network architecture, network slicing, network management and automation, industrial IoT, M2M and Wireless Sensor Networks.  ,,,,,

Dr. Ömer Haliloğlu, Experienced Researcher, Ericsson Research Turkey
Dr. Ömer Haliloğlu joined Ericsson in 2018 and has been conducting research on 5G Evolution and 6G in the networks area with a focus on distributed MIMO and flexible topologies. He is currently leading the Ericsson Research distributed MIMO activities. He holds a Ph.D. and M.Sc. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Hacettepe University in Ankara, Turkey.
