The emerging thin-film solar cells have led to focus on low-cost and earth-abundant p- type semiconductor materials in order to achieve higher photovoltaic efficiency goal. Tin sulfide has been successfully applied to different semiconductor devices due to its excellent optoelectronic properties. Organic perovskite solar cells have been attracted in the short period of time and showed higher efficiency compared to other photo- absorber materials. The fabrication of emerging semiconductor photo-absorbers over the flexible substrates have been developing and these can be integrated for various applications.
In this talk, Dr. Ballipinar will present the synthesis and characterization of the metal sulfide and organic perovskite semiconductors for their applications in thin film solar cells. The microfabrication and characterization results of tin sulfide semiconductor will be mentioned. The higher transmittance of n type cadmium oxysulfide was used as an alternative in order to increase the visible range of transparency and this film can enhance the visible light reaching to photo-absorber that helps in the increment of photovoltaic efficiency. The photovoltaic applications of these materials will be explained. He will also mention the microfabrication of flexible RF antenna devices.Konuşmacının Biyografisi
Faruk Ballipinar received his B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Yildiz Technical University and M.S. degree from Istanbul Technical University. He had Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from Binghamton University, State University of New York (SUNY) in 2018. He worked in the field of thin film solar cell microfabrication at the Center for Autonomous Solar Power during his Ph.D. In 2016, he held a visiting researcher position and worked on flexible solar cell research project in Argonne National Lab. He continued his postdoctoral research at the Center for Advanced Microelectronics Manufacturing (CAMM) in the Binghamton University. During his postdoc, he worked on the microfabrication of transparent semiconductor and RF antenna on flexible substrate. He is currently in the Electrical-Electronics Engineering department at Uşak University. His research focuses on 2D semiconductors for optoelectronic applications and the microfabrication of RF integrated circuits. He also has an interest for integrated flexible electronic devices.
