ABSTRACT
In this talk, I will first present some results from my PhD, which is on the information-theoretic analysis of high-SNR performance in cooperative cellular networks. The results demonstrate that upper and lower bounds on per-user throughput are quite close under certain circumstances, such as low backhaul capacity and moderate cooperation latency. In the second part, I will present some results on polar coding from my postdoctoral research. These results are based on the decoupling of polar matrix rows concerning the binary digit indexing of their indices and a new analysis method for the minimum distance of polar codes. The results show that the proposed polar code designs outperform both polarization-adjusted convolutional codes and 5G polar codes at short block lengths.

BIOGRAPHY
Samet Gelincik obtained his BSc degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Hacettepe University and his MSc degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Middle East Technical University in 2010 and 2014, respectively. Later on, he received his PhD degree from Telecom Paris, France, in 2019. Afterwards, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at INSA de Rennes, Rennes, France, and as a research fellow at Eurecom, Sophia Antipolis, France, respectively. His research interests lie in the broad area of information theory and channel coding.
