Our senior students awarded financial support by TUBITAK for their electric vehicle charging station project
March 16, 2015
Our students were awarded financial project support by National Scientific Foundation of Turkey (TUBITAK) for their senior design project.
The senior design project is titled as "Design of a Smart Grid Compatible Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Station" and performed by our undergraduate students Mr. Yusuf Domyal, Mr. Ali Gökoğlu, Mr. Tolga Keleş, Mr. Engin Sezen, Mr. Kerim Şahin, and Mr. Emin Yılmaz under the supervision of Dr. Mithat Kisacikoglu. The project is funded within 2209/B program of TUBITAK upon their application on September 2014.

TUBITAK 2209/B program supports senior capstone projects that can find an application area in the industry. The maximum limit of the available support is 4000TL per project. The program is open for submissions during every month of the year. For more info about the program, you can go to the below link:

Short Project Description

EVs are slowly getting widespread in Turkey as it is getting across the globe. As the number of EVs connected to the grid increases, their grid-integration has to be handled in a way that will not impact the utility in a negative way. In this project, an Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) that has the capability of bidirectional communication with the utility grid will be designed. A user will be able to observe and control the vehicle charging from a remote location and program the EVSE so that it adapts the real-time price rates of the utility grid to decrease the charging cost. The project also gets support from Zebra Electronics a domestic EVSE supplier.
